One way to avoid theological error is to avoid projecting YOUR wishes, inclinations, and desires onto God and then telling people that they are His desires for them.

It is MY desire that everyone be:

• Free of worry
• Free of cancers
• Free of injustice
• Free of oppression
• Free of financial strain
  .
  It is my job to WORK so that others are:
• Free of worry
• Free of cancers
• Free of injustice
• Free of oppression
• Free of financial strain
  .
  But, I have ZERO Scriptural basis to go around telling people 👉🏽AUTHORITATIVELY👈🏽 that God wants the same things for them that I do.
  .
  Imagine telling Paul that God’s desire is that he live in “abundance” and “prosperity.” FALSE.
  .
  Imagine telling Joseph “God had nothing to do with the evil you’ve suffered! That is NOT what God wants! That’s the Enemy!” FALSE.
  .
  Imagine talking to some Egyptian mother saying “God loves all you Egyptians just like us!” Just then Moses shows up and says “God said for US to put markings on our doors because He’s going to kill ALL of their firstborn children tonight…no matter their age or circumstance.”
  .
  Imagine telling Amalekite parents “Yahweh loves you!” Just then, Joshua shows up saying “Uhhh…Yahweh sent us here with explicit instructions to kill ALL of them…down to the infants…for something Amalek did about SIX HUNDRED years ago.”
  .
  Imagine walking with Jesus saying “Look! God wants you to live LONG and have a prosperous life! You’re going to Make Israel Great Again!”
  .
  Oh! Wait! That actually happened:
  “And Peter took him [Jesus] aside and began to REBUKE him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.”

But he [Jesus] turned and said to Peter,
“Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of GOD, but on the things of MAN.”

Quit telling people that YOUR will and desire for them IS God’s will.

Our job is to:

• HELP those suffering
  - COMFORT those afflicted
• CONTRIBUTE to their well being, but stop pretending you know what God wants for every person. We can believe it. We can even act on it. But we can’t tell people we KNOW what God’s will is for them. This is what causes people to lie and say “God WILL heal your disease.” Then they die. So to save face, you lie and blame THEM for their illness.

  My job is to be endlessly optimistic and supportive of ALL people. But it is not my job to go around pretending or assuming I always know what God’s will is.
  .
  Paul said it was GOOD that he was jailed for the gospel. Today, we’d be telling him he is supposed to “manifest his freedom” and “speak your liberty into existence.”
  .
  We CAN say what we HOPE for others and work to bring it about. But, we have NO right to 👉🏽authoritatively👈🏽 declare what God intends for them.
